Presenting John & Nancy Burke's
Western & Wildlife Art Workshop
July 20th to 27th, 2008

Welcome fellow artists to the year 2008 art workshop we
are offering
at Doane College
John and Nancy Burke will bring you the 17th annual session of their
annual Art Workshop. We welcome all woodcarvers and old
friends. The workshop take place once again at Doane
College. You will stay in first class dormitories, what in the
cafeteria and take instruction from the best woodcarving instructors
there are, in beautiful well-lighted classrooms. if you would
like more information on the location, please visit the school's
website (www.doane.edu) to view his small town campus just southwest of
Lincoln. Transportation from Lincoln can be arranged for those
flying to the workshop.
After last years very successful instructor donated artwork drawing we
will continue it for 2008. All attendees who are at the workshop
will receive a chance to win a donated carving by one of our
instructors. If you register prior to January 1, 2008, you will
receive two chances. New for this year, if you refer someone else
to attend and they do, you will also receive an extra chance to
win. All monies from the drawings are used to offset expenses for
all attendees on scholarships. All scholarship nominations are
made by this year's instructors.
This year we are proud to announce one returning alumnus and two new
additions to the teaching staff. The first is Rick Jensen
returning with his magical bark houses. New instructors are Marye
Jones-Huckins, with watercolor painting, and Terry Trusdell teaching an
introduction to full size sculpture caving with mallets and chisels for
new students. We are very fortunate to have such a talented group
of artists next summer.
We have 12 well known woodcarving artists for you to choose from, plus
an award winning nationally know painter. Please take time to
review the many choice, classes , do fill up quick, so please include
your second choice as well. We continue to strive to keep classes
small so students have more opportunity to learn.
Total cost of the workshop will remain at $460. This includes
your class tuition, room and board. In addition, the
instructors will charge for their wood blanks and they supplies you
decide to purchase.
As many of you know, I am still acquiring items for my
collection.
I would be willing to buy or trade military items, 1700-1940;
photographs
-- Civil War Solders, Blacks, Outdoor views, etc. , Flags of 40 or
fewer
stars, old swords, knives, bayonet, medical kits, Indian artifacts,
Beadwork,
Civil War diaries and letters, Reunion items -- badges, ribbons, etc.,
from the G.A.R., U.C.V. and the Indian Wars; Campaign medals and
ribbons,
old boxes of ammo, bullets, and shotgun shells. Call me if you
